These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Rooted iOS application and its related services. Rooted is operated by Rooted in Ontario, Canada (“Rooted,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By downloading, creating an account for, purchasing through, or using Rooted, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Rooted.
Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (“Apple Standard EULA”) also governs your licence to the iOS application. These Terms supplement the Apple Standard EULA and govern Rooted’s accounts, content, subscriptions, and services. Nothing in these Terms removes a right that applicable law does not allow you to waive.
You must be at least 13 years old to create a Rooted account. If you are not old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these Terms for you.
You may not use Rooted where doing so would violate applicable law.
Rooted provides Bible reading plans, public-domain Scripture text, audio narration, study material, reflections, reminders, notes, highlights, bookmarks, progress tracking, and related features. Some features require an account or paid subscription.
Available features, translations, audio, plan lengths, and content may vary by App version, territory, device, subscription, legal requirements, and technical availability.
Rooted is intended for general educational and devotional use. It does not provide professional medical, mental-health, legal, financial, pastoral, or emergency services.
Study notes, summaries, historical context, reflections, suggested applications, and similar material may be created or assisted by artificial intelligence. This material may contain errors, omissions, disputed interpretations, or outdated information. It is commentary and is not Scripture.
You should verify important information against the displayed Scripture text and other trusted sources and use your own judgment. Rooted is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional, trusted religious leader, or emergency service where appropriate.
Audio narration is provided for convenience and may contain pronunciation, pacing, synchronization, or technical errors.
You are responsible for activity through your account and for protecting access to your device and Apple or Google account. You must provide accurate information and must not impersonate another person or misuse another person’s account.
Contact support@dossdev.com promptly if you believe your Rooted account has been accessed or used without authorization.
Our collection and handling of account information is described in the Privacy Policy.
Rooted may offer premium features through an auto-renewing Apple App Store subscription. Before you confirm a purchase, Apple’s purchase screen displays the current price, currency, billing period, trial terms, and included offering. The information displayed by Apple at purchase controls if it differs from a general description elsewhere.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Unless cancelled before renewal, a subscription renews automatically under the terms displayed by Apple. You can manage or cancel your subscription through iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Rooted. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
If a free or discounted trial is offered, its length, eligibility, and conversion terms will be shown before purchase. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription on the displayed terms.
Apple processes subscription billing, renewals, cancellation, price-change notices or consent, and refund requests. Refund eligibility is determined under Apple’s policies and any mandatory rights where you live. Nothing in these Terms excludes a refund, cancellation right, warranty, or remedy that applicable law requires.
Deleting your Rooted account or deleting the App does not cancel your Apple subscription. You must cancel it separately through Apple.
Subject to these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Rooted on supported Apple devices for your own lawful, non-commercial purposes. The App is licensed, not sold. No ownership interest in Rooted transfers to you.
You may not, except where applicable law expressly permits it, copy, sell, sublicense, rent, redistribute, scrape, or commercially exploit the App or protected Rooted content; bypass or interfere with subscriptions, access controls, security features, or usage restrictions; attempt unauthorized access; introduce malware; reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, or create derivative works from the App; or use Rooted unlawfully, fraudulently, or in a way that infringes another person’s rights. These restrictions do not limit rights that applicable law cannot exclude, including rights relating to properly licensed open-source components.
Scripture text offered through Rooted is drawn from sources that are public domain in the territories where they are made available. Public-domain status can vary by country, so a translation or related feature may be unavailable in some territories.
Translation names, source identifiers, and related marks may belong to their respective owners. Rooted does not claim ownership of public-domain Scripture and is not affiliated with or endorsed by a translation publisher or religious organization unless expressly stated.
Rooted’s software, design, branding, arrangement, and original non-Scripture content are owned by or licensed to us to the extent protected by law. Rooted may include open-source software or assets governed by separate licences. Applicable notices and licence terms control for those components.
You retain any rights you have in notes or other content you create in Rooted. Notes, highlights, and bookmarks are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to servers controlled by us.
You are responsible for maintaining any copies you wish to preserve. Removing the App, losing or replacing a device, device failure, operating-system changes, or backup settings may result in loss of locally stored content.
Rooted relies on services supplied by Apple and other providers. Their terms and privacy policies may also apply. We do not control third-party services and cannot guarantee their continuous availability, compatibility, or performance. Links or references to third-party content do not imply endorsement.
We may update, add, remove, restrict, suspend, or discontinue features or content for security, legal, licensing, technical, or business reasons. We do not guarantee that Rooted, a specific translation, audio file, reading plan, or feature will always remain available. Where required by law, we will provide notice or an applicable remedy.
You may stop using Rooted or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, unlawful or fraudulent activity, a security risk, non-payment, a legal requirement, or discontinuation of the service. Where reasonable and legally required, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rooted is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that Rooted will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, complete, accurate, compatible with every device, or suitable for every purpose. Statutory warranties, consumer guarantees, and other rights that cannot legally be excluded remain in effect.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rooted and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, data, or locally stored notes or content, arising from or relating to Rooted. Our total aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Rooted during the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim and CAD $100. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
Before filing a claim, you and Rooted agree to make a reasonable effort to resolve the dispute informally by providing a written description of the issue and requested resolution to support@dossdev.com and allowing 30 days for a response.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to mandatory law where you live, the courts located in Ontario will have jurisdiction over disputes relating to Rooted.
Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for Rooted. Apple and its subsidiaries are intended third-party beneficiaries of these Terms as they relate to the iOS App and may enforce those provisions.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a United States government embargo and are not identified on a United States government prohibited- or restricted-party list.
We may update these Terms prospectively as Rooted or applicable requirements change. We will update the date above and provide reasonable notice of a material change through the App, email, or another appropriate method. If applicable law requires express agreement, the change will not apply until you agree.
If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Apple Standard EULA, and the purchase information displayed by Apple form the agreement governing Rooted.

These Terms of Service apply to Rooted version 1.0 and later. In-app purchases are processed by Apple and subject to Apple’s own Terms of Service available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes.
